Where to Eat in Isla Verde and Carolina: A Beach Day from Morning to Night
Isla Verde is Carolina’s beach, and a day there goes a long way. Without leaving the municipality you can have breakfast, spend the afternoon over a craft beer, watch the sunset from a rooftop and end with a chef’s dinner.
This guide plans that day from start to finish, with restaurants listed on Lanzavisión.
Breakfast before the beach
Bistro Café is a small, cozy spot known for its breakfasts: French toast with fruit, omelets and tropical-flavored mimosas. A good start before you hit the sand.
A beer by the water
In the afternoon, Ocean Lab Brewing Co. brews its beer on site at Vivo Beach Club, right by the water, and suggests pairings with the house food. If you’d like to see how it’s made, its other location in Isla Verde offers a look at the brewing process.
Sunset from above
To watch the sun go down, ZL Rooftop sits on top of Casa Costera, with views of the sea and the city: a night out at the bar with a view.
Dinner
Two ways to go. For a chef’s dinner, José Enrique starts from Puerto Rican cooking and local ingredients and crosses them with Spain, Japan, France and the Mediterranean. For something intimate to celebrate, Sushi by Bou, inside the Fairmont El San Juan, serves a chef-led omakase of 12 or 17 pieces, with cocktails and sake.
If you’re staying over
To do the day without a car, the easiest move is to stay in the area. On Isla Verde beach is The Royal Sonesta San Juan. If you’d like to compare first, here’s the list of San Juan hotels.
